A publisher or an author only has seconds to make an impact on a potential reader, and the front cover designs is a big part of that first impression. I love to read and I love books. I always have. So to design and create unique book covers that truly reflect the story to be told whilst grabbing the attention of the reader is a big dream of mine. The play between imagery, typography and design is truly fun to explore and to see a final design come together is incredibly rewarding.

As a photographic and digital artist, I not only enjoy designing the final covers but creating the imagery and building the typography around it too. Here are some examples of the work that I've completed.

Magazines are more than just glossy publications advertising photoshopped models. They share information, showcase products, tell stories and engage a reader with their articles and layouts. A magazine layout always has to be well thought out - a combination of well selected and placed images together with carefully placed text, quotes and information.

To get a magazine layout right, one must consider the target audience, the message being conveyed, the visual means in which the story is to be told and how well the text can communicate with the reader. Placement of all these items together in a way that sings a delicate song of message and tone is important to the final result. And can be the difference between a potential reader engaging with the product or not.
